Problem with LAN speed when start openVPN client

I am experiencing an issue with communication between computers that are on the same local network in the same room when I enable the OpenVPN client. Specifically, when I attempt to transfer files to a shared folder on another computer, it takes an extremely long time to complete. However, once I disable the OpenVPN client, the file transfer works fine and proceeds as expected.

Could you kindly assist me in troubleshooting this issue? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can you trace the route to the destination IP of the shared folder while Connected to the VPN?
There could be a case where the traffic to your network folder is actually being routed through the VPN tunnel.
That would explain the slower then usual speed when transferring the files over.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I have tested the route to the destination IP of the shared folder while connected to the VPN using the tracert command. The results seem fine, and there is no indication that the traffic is being routed through the VPN tunnel.

However, despite the traceroute showing no issues, we are still experiencing significant delays in file transfers when the VPN is enabled. The speed issue persists even though the route appears to be correct.

Would you be able to suggest any further steps or configurations to help resolve the issue?
