Hi all,
I use an own OpenVPN server with different clients (win/linux/android) and it works.
Now I am abroad and pages like Facebook and Instagram are bocked here. Connecting to my OpenVPN and redirecting gateway gives the possibility to reach the login pages for FB or IG, but it stays stuck at the stage where the status bar loads static.xx.fbcdn.net resources. It either never finishes loading, or takes much time to eventually load a few of images or media in the posts.
This same behavior I get on an android phone as well. Opening the app leads to pull of some inital low resolution garbled images - placeholders and a few of the posts, but scrolling down for older ones is impossible.
Other blocked sites and services work fine once connected to VPN. I experience this only with FB and IG.
For now I tried configuring other DNS servers in Client conf, tried with other options like block-outside-dns, but it does not seem to have any effect.
Generally I don't know if the fbcdn requests take some other route than those of the inital requests but as the default gateway is rerouted I took for sure that ALL the communication flows trough the tunnel. There is either my misunderstanding or some other DNS resolving issue in the game.
Can you please advise where to start investigating?
