“VPN Connection Issue on Mac with OpenVPN – Timeout and Socket Errors”

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue when trying to connect to OpenVPN on my Mac (Apple M1, macOS version Sequoia). I keep getting the error message:

“Connection Timeout, Errors sending on network socket: 54 times.”

This problem only occurs on my daughter’s Mac, but the exact same OpenVPN configuration works fine on other Macs, including one with an Intel processor and one with another Apple M1 Pro.

Here’s what I have tried so far:

• Reinstalled OpenVPN client on the Mac

• Checked firewall settings (firewall is off)

• Verified that the OpenVPN configuration file is correct

• Tested with mobile hotspot and standard Wi-Fi connections

• Ensured IP settings are set to “roaming” (dynamic)

• Checked router settings for correct port forwarding (UDP port ----)


Despite all these efforts, the issue persists only on this specific Mac. Can anyone help with suggestions on how to resolve this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
